Lake Buena Vista could be described as one of the most magical lakes in the whole of Florida. The lake is a tiny natural lake in Florida's East Central Region, and over the years, it has been transformed by Walt Disney World, the main attraction that draws folks to search for an RV rental in Orange County. The area was primarily wetlands, but that all changed with the arrival of Disney. Lake Buena Vista, originally called Back Lake, became the center of it all. The name changed in honor of the street that Mr. Disney grew up in California.

The town itself was also named Lake Buena Vista, and it is also Disney's downtown area, which is used as the resort region for those that come to visit the parks. Village Lake is a manmade centerpiece to Disney, and this is connected to Lake Buena Vista via a small channel. Out of all the lakes in the complex, Lake Buena Vista remains the most natural.

Discover Lake Buena Vista

Getting Outdoors

Unlike many of the other lakes in the Disney complex, some of the shore remains undeveloped, and there is a section of wetlands along the north shore. When not at the Disney parks, Lake Buena Vista campers are welcome to take a stroll along the lawns and admire the beauty of this sparkling stretch of water. The lawns around the lake are a lovely place for an evening stroll, or if you need a little downtime from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding Disney parks.

One of the most popular Lake Buena Vista activities is fishing, however, in order to do this, you have to take one of the organized fishing excursions, which can be arranged at Disney Downtown. Fishing at this lake, as with all Disney lakes, is a catch and release; however thanks to the Disney stocking program catches of huge largemouth bass are very common. Many people combine a fishing trip and camping at Lake Buena Vista with fishing at other lakes in the park complex, where big bluegill, channel catfish, and crappie can be found.

Buena Vista water sports is Orlando's ultimate water sports experience. The company organizes a huge range of water sports in the area and surrounding Lake Bryan. They offer jet skiing, water skiing, wakeboarding, stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, and more.

Camping at Lake Buena Vista

Mill Creek RV Resort is just one of the options you could consider when you rent a camping Lake Buena Vista. There are around 150 sites nestled along wooded creek banks, offering a very picturesque place to set up camp. All sites are full hook-up and come with their own private picnic table for alfresco dining. Amenities include access to WiFi and cable TV, a clubhouse, swimming pool, horseshoes, laundry facilities and a number of planned activities held throughout the year,

Another option for your RV rental is Sherwood Forest RV Resort. Despite the fact that this RV resort is located close to all the major attractions of the area, sites are still surrounded by lush trees and clear lakes. There are a variety of different sites depending on your preferences, either pull-thru or back in, with or without a pad, or with or without shade, but all come with a picnic table and cable TV. The resort has a busy social calendar, with planned events including dinners, dances, board game nights, cookouts, ice cream socials, and much more.

Exploring the Area

Of course, the biggest attraction to this area of Florida is the Disney theme parks. Providing days and days of fun, these parks are known all over the world for their incredible attractions, characters, rides, and more. For many, a visit to the Disney parks is a once in a lifetime experience. There are many different parks in the complex, all offering a little something different. For some, the biggest attraction is the thrill rides, while others come for the entertainment and magic. Different events are held throughout the year, so check out the calendar of events before booking an Orlando camper rental.

For something a little different from the usual theme park experience, but still in keeping with Disney, is a visit to the Animal Kingdom. This is one of the Disney parks, but rather than rides; the park is home to all sorts of species of animals from all over the world. Alternatively, Harry Potter fans will have an incredible time at the Wizarding World, full of everything magic.

When you are all Disney stressed out, pay a visit to the neighboring city of Orlando. The city has a lot more to it than just theme parks. Race on some of the best go-kart tracks in Florida, be amazed by the wonders in Ripley's Believe it or Not, step back in time and see what it was like in an old Florida town or shop until you drop in the city. If it is a bit of culture you are looking for, there are plenty of art galleries and museums throughout the area, such as the Orlando Science Center and Orlando Museum of Art.

The towns of Kissimmee, FL, and Clermont, are also nearby and are worth exploring. Grab up the kiddos, load the RV, and happy exploring!
