Perry KOA

If you're hoping to see a wide variety of landscapes and ecosystems during your Perry camper rental trip, start by heading for Econfina River State Park. This diverse refuge is home to pine and oak-palm tree stands, salt marsh with tiny islands dotting here and there, and miles of trails and sand dunes where you can look out over coastal Florida. It's an excellent place for bird watching and wildlife viewing and has provided access to Gulf of Mexico fishing since before the first settlers arrived. You can also picnic here or continue on to Tallahassee to experience true Florida cuisine. Scenic coastal locations are some of the reasons why you should tour Florida in a Perry rental motorhome; a trip to St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge is how you will check this off of your to-do list. This park is a way station of sorts for birds migrating north or south, making it a bird watcher's paradise. You can combine history and nature by stopping at the St. Marks Lighthouse, which was built in 1842 and is still used today. Seven north Florida rivers flow into the refuge before reaching their estuaries; coastal marshes and tidal creeks round out the landscape and provide a safe haven for the resident birds and mammals that are just as varied as their habitat. You can also fish in the creeks, rivers, lakes, ponds, and ocean from shore or by boat. If you decide to hike the trails, one of them includes a GPS scavenger hunt that adults and families can all enjoy. Heading inland away from the coast, you will find Twin Rivers State Forest. This park is home to a variety of ecosystems such as sandhill, floodplain, swamp, and sinkhole communities. These ecoregions in turn host a large number of tree stand species like river birch, balk cypress, and several varieties of oak. While you're here, be on the lookout for white-tailed deer, bobcats, alligators, and otters, just to name a few resident wildlife species.
