Wekiwa Springs Campground

First off, it’s time to explore Wekiwa Springs State Park properly. Or you could just sit back, kick your feet up, and take in the atmosphere created by the lush hammocks, green springs, and buzzing of wildlife. Another option would be to hike through the almost tropical landscape, trying to catch a glimpse of a deer, wild turkey, or maybe even a fox squirrel. You could also swim and snorkel in the crystal-clear springs, before enjoying a yummy picnic. At Lake Apopka North Shore you can also enjoy lots of water activities such as boating and paddling, but another big reason to come here is to experience the amazing marshes and wetlands, once part of the lake itself but now a place where you can hike, bike, or even drive as you wish. The wildlife needs to be given special attention, and you might spot bobcats, otters, or an alligator if you keep your eyes peeled. This is also a birder’s paradise, with hundreds of different species having been observed here. Well, you can’t rent a camper near Wekiwa Springs Campground and not go to the beach, isn’t that right? Hop into your Apopka RV rental and head east to Canaveral National Seashore, and you’ll be in for a real treat. Here you can marvel at the white sand beaches, while looking out for beautiful animals and fragile flowers - unless you happen to be in the area just in time for a launch from Kennedy Space Center, of course. If you prefer the sky free from space ships but full of stars, take a look at the seasonal night sky programs.
