2005 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
2005 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
Beautiful, handmade Van Conversion with live edge wood countertop, full working kitchen, full size height-adjustable bed, living room, closet, solar panels, outdoor shower, and space to haul all your gear! If you're looking to experience #vanlife and can't wait to get into nature, this is the rental for you!
The van has two seats with seatbelts up front, and can sleep two adults comfortably in the full size bed. It sleeps 3 easily, with one person sleeping on the couch/cushions under the bed. It sleeps 4 if you get creative with a hammock :)
I traveled in the van with my partner full time for a year, and found it very comfortable for extended stays and full-time van-lifing. The layout is versatile and the kitchen a joy to use. Keep in mind that this is a self-built conversion, and while the van is beautiful, it is not perfect. Things may need to be adjusted here and there, and you should be willing to learn how to fine-tune the little "van quirks" that make for a unique, real vanlife experience.
*Size*
The van is an extended Sprinter cargo van, almost 22ft in length and 8'11" in height. Van will pass through 9'0" Clearances. Due to the high roof, someone up to 6 ft tall can stand inside without having to hunch. If you're not sleeping a 3rd person, the space under the bed easily fits your toys. I normally carry a 26" mountain bike and a whitewater kayak stored with mounts in the under-bed "garage", with room left over to open drawers and sit on the couch.
The van is a bit longer than a regular parking spot, but can fit into most spots if you pull up as much as possible or have a bit of the van extending out. While it drives nicely and has a very comfortable turn ratio, the van is a few feet longer than a regular car, and would prefer to be rented by a good driver that is comfortable in a larger vehicle.
*Full Size height-adjustable bed*
You'll be sleeping on a full size bed, ideal for 2 people. The bed frame is on a track system, which allows it to be raised and lowered to change the layout of the van. Since this is a manual process, you must be comfortable lifting 50lbs to use the height-adjustable feature.
In "day" mode, the bed frame can be moved all the way up against the ceiling, which leaves room under the bed for hanging in the hammock, the couch, and using the adjustable dining table. In "night" mode, the bed is moved to belly button height and leaves plenty of room to sit on top of or lay on the bed. With the bed in "night" mode, there is still plenty of room underneath for a 3rd person to sleep under the bed using the couch cushions.
Since the bed can be adjusted and locked at 6" height intervals, it allows you to counteract the effects of parking on a slant.
Please bring your own sheets, pillows, and blankets, or purchase them here as an add-on.
*Full Kitchen*
The van has a beautiful, easy to use kitchen, where you can prepare full meals. It includes:
-2 Propane Burners and oven with 2 small racks.
-2.3 cu ft fridge with small freezer compartment. Fits a weeks worth of perishables or 2 cases of beer.
-Sink with flexible faucet and running water. Has an automatic water pump to keep it flowing by turning the handle.
-Two easily removable 14 gallon fresh water storage tanks and one 7 gallon grey-water tank for sink water drainage. Grey water tank has an easy to use valve to direct water flow to the outside the van instead of to the tank (only use this feature when deemed safe to the environment).
-Built-in dish-soap dispenser and geometric tile backsplash
-Plenty of over and under-head storage for dry goods and utensils.
-Pots and pans, cutlery, basic spices, bowls and plates for 2, are all included but must be returned clean and in great condition to avoid any charges.
-Smoke detector
-Only use propane if you know how to do so safely and have proper ventilation. I always turn the exhaust fan on and leave the sliding door open if I plan on using the burner or the oven. The propane tank valve must be completely shut off before sleeping or putting the van in motion.
*Heater*
The van has an Espar Heater that keeps it toasty even in winter. The heater can be activated as an add-on, and will heat the van up to 85*F on 10*F+ days. If you expect temperatures below 45*F, I recommend either purchasing this add-on, or bringing temperature appropriate sleeping bags and clothing, in addition to the comforter that is included with the van. If you'd like to use the heater, let me know before departure as you will need to learn how to use it and troubleshoot it in case of emergency. If the battery is allowed to dip below 80% charge, the heater may not function properly and it is up to the guest to properly and safely deal with the cold.
