Getting Outdoors
Fishing is a popular activity for those that come camping with an RV, with many tournaments held throughout the year. Boat permits are required, but these can be purchased from either of the lakes two marinas, so it won't be long until you are out on the water. The fish population in the lake comprises mainly of largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish, white and black crappies, white bass and channel catfish, so there is quite a selection. People come from miles around to enjoy the populated waters and try their luck with a line before heading back to nearby state park RV campgrounds.
Camping at Lake Sara
Setting up camp around the lake couldn't be easier, as it has its own designated campsite. The site offers both pull-thru sites and tent camping and is a pet-friendly environment. Full hook-up is available, with 50 and 30 amp service as well as satellite TV. In terms of amenities, you'll find restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, a clubhouse, and its own pet area. There is a playground to keep the kids entertained, and there is also direct access to the water.
Exploring the Area
Being so close to the city of Effingham, there are a number of things to do just a short distance away from the lake. For car enthusiasts, a detour to My Garage Museum is worth it, filled with rare and unique cars. Look in awe at Corvettes that were used in films or ground-breaking research, or browse the collection of antique automatic memorabilia and collectibles. Don't forget to stop in at the museum's gift shop so you can take home a souvenir!

This was the first time we (family of 5) had ever rented a camper and the experience was great, thanks to our host, Tom. It started with him being very responsive as soon as we requested to book their camper and very accomodating on delivering the camper with our requested schedule.This camper was just as the pictures showed and as described, clean, spacious, everything worked great and included all the essential utensils and equipment for a comfortable camping experience. Tom setup the camper showed us how to operate everything and where everything was located. He made it a very hassle free experience and I would highly recommend booking this camper with him.
