Getting Outdoors

Getting out and about on Shabbona Lake’s calm waters is easy, thanks to a convenient double-lane boat ramp located on the lake’s western shoreline. Those motorhome camping with their own boat can make a beeline for the public ramp, whilst those without one can rent a vessel from the marina. Although motorized boats are permitted on the lake, they are restricted to a maximum of ten horse-power, and the ‘no-wake zones’ are strictly monitored. For this reason, the best way to explore Shabbona Lake is via kayak, canoe or paddleboard, all of which can be rented from a local outlet.

Camping at Shabbona Lake

Shabbona Lake camping is easy thanks to the well-equipped campground located in the state park. The campground consists of over 150 sites, 90 of which can be reserved in advance. Arranged in a semi-wooded area, those with a rental RV can enjoy electrical hookups, a fire ring, private picnic table and access to the on-site dump station. Although there are no water hookups available, there are well-maintained washrooms with hot showers and flushing toilets for the convenience of all guests.

We had a great experience renting this RV from Dave during spring break. Dave was incredibly responsive and easy to work with throughout the entire process, showing a high level of flexibility with our schedule. The RV itself was in great condition and we encountered no issues during our trip. Dave also did a thorough job explaining all the features and systems before we set off, which made us feel very confident. I highly recommend renting from him for a stress-free vacation!

The RV was perfect for our spring break trip - lightweight, easy to use, and came with many conveniences. James was an amazing host. He was always available to answer questions and made sure we were safe and had everything we needed to relax and enjoy the Great Outdoors. If we rent again, we will definitely contact James!
