The lake is home to a wide variety of fish species, each one with its very own unique sporting characteristics. Largemouth bass, bluegill, sunfish, yellow perch, and northern pike are all here in great quantities. During the winter months, Lake James is also a perfect destination for ice fishing, and this often results in success. Whether you choose to fish from the seventeen miles of shoreline or a boat out on the lake, fishing Lake James is a must for any angling enthusiast.
Camping at Lake James
There are a few choices when camping at Lake James, and this all depends are the preference of the camper. If you wish to be directly lakeside, head to Pokagon State Park campground. This campsite offers partial hookups, and these include 20, 30, 50 amp electric. Facilities provided on-site are a dump station, flushing toilet restrooms, a shower block, and a generous picnic area. Pokagon State Park campground is also ADA accessible.
Exploring The Area
Just to the south of Lake James is the small town of Angola. After you have spent a few days boating and hiking your way around the lake, head to Lake James Golf Club for a relaxing round of golf. Pop into the onsite bar for a light refreshment after a gentle stroll around the course - enjoying the picturesque views as you put each shot. Lake James Golf Club also offers lessons for both adults and children, this is something that the whole family can enjoy, and only a short distance from the lake.

First, camper was SUPER clean! Setup perfectly when we arrived at our campground. Everything in the camper worked well!
Second, you will not find better owners in renting RVs. I have rented several RVs throughout the years and Phil and Jenn are the best to work with. Great communication and responded quickly when we had questions. They even had a gift basket for us in the camper when we arrived for my kids! I would definitely rent again from them!

This van is magical. It had everything we needed for our long weekend off-grid yoga festival! The little details inside are incredible. Ceara’s commication was prompt and thorough. She answered all of my questions and was so kind to with me for a slightly earlier pick-up so we could get on the road.
This is no ordinary camper-van, it’s a little piece of magic on the road.
