RV rental Summit Lake State Park, IN: Motorhome rentals, camper van rentals and more

Summit Lake is, without a doubt, the park’s centerpiece attraction. However, at the southwest corner of the state park, visitors will also find Zeigler Woods Nature Preserve. Here, you'll have the opportunity to see thriving flora and fauna that's almost completely untouched by humans. The park also has multiple hiking trails, so both rookies and experienced hikers can get their desired dose of exercise. Hiking veterans can hit Prairie Trail, which is two miles long and leads you through oak-hickory woods and scenic prairies. If you're a hiking novice, you can opt for the Beach Trail, which is almost a mile long but way easier to traverse in terms of terrain. The trails are also ideal for birdwatching, as the park's shoreline, wildflower fields, and meadows are important habitats for birds. If you're lucky and observant, you might also spot some of the rare species like the bald eagle, black tern, and sandhill crane. The lake provides activities throughout the whole year, so Summit Lake State Park campers come here to sunbathe, swim, boat, fish, or ice-fish. Launch your watercraft from one of three ramps in the park. Motorboats are welcome to explore the lake at idle speeds. Anglers can hope to catch walleye, crappie, catfish, and bluegill. Fun recreational activities abound at Summit Lake State Park all year long. When the snow starts falling, winter wanderers can hit the cross-country ski trails. Just make sure to bring all the gear you'll need, as the park doesn't offer any winter equipment rentals.
