Discover Wabash RV rentals for memorable road trips

The sleepy riverside city of Wabash is located southwest of Fort Wayne and directly east of Logansport. On the Wabash River from where it derives its name, Wabash was founded during the 1830s after the land was taken from local Potawatomi and Miami Native Americans as a result of the Treaty of Paradise Spring. The proximity of both of Wabash and Erie Canal meant the town grew quickly.

Charley Creek Gardens is a botanical garden which contains plants from across the globe, making it the perfect place for a nature walk. Covering over six acres, it's ideal if you're looking for a short walk full of interesting sights. This park is also open to dogs as long as they're leashed, so feel free to bring your pup along for some much-needed exercise.

RV Parks

There are a few campgrounds located nearby, and one to consider when you book a travel trailer rental in Wabash is Honey Bear Hollow Family Campground in the town of Peru. This campground has just shy of 100 gravel and grass campsites, a small amount of which have full hookups while the rest have water and electric only. The electrical hookups support both 30 and 50 amp electric. Recreation includes a swimming pool, game room, and even frisbee golf. There are plenty of amenities here too, with a grocery store and snack bar on site.

Exploring the City

Wabash is large enough that you won't have to leave the city to find a place to eat or get groceries. There are lots of small towns nearby including Peru, and if you want to embark on a short road trip, the Fort Wayne is less than an hour's drive away. There are some intriguing places to visit within Wabash, and one of the most popular is the Dr. James Ford Historic Home. This 19th-century home was also a doctor's office which has been restored to its original look, giving visitors an insight into what life was like for a physician during the Civil War. Along with the house is a beautiful Victorian-era garden, complete with herbs and vegetables used in medicines. Dr. Ford led a remarkable life, and this is evident in his family home.

When we embarked on our first camping adventure, we were not sure what we were doing. The first right decision we made was to rent a camper from Brennan! The camper was beautiful and supplied with most everything we needed. We definitely cooked and lived in the camper -- not just slept in the camper. My husband is a big muscular guy and couldn't fit in the shower, so we used the campground showers -- which worked out well. Even when the heater didn't work in 30 degree temps, Brennan was there to help and always answered our questions along the way. The only advice we gave her was to provide an updated list of what she supplied because we brought more than we needed! She thought of everything and we are grateful and blessed to have been able to share her "home" for a week!

The camper was great; the floor plan was perfect for our needs. The set-up on the site was great! However, our host forgot to give us the access code to unlock the camper which caused us some delay with our 5 young grandchildren in tow. Also, the propane tank ran out in the middle of the first night leaving us without heat in mid 30-degree outside temperatures. Upon inspection, both propane tanks were empty. Other than that, we enjoyed the camper.
