Bodi Lake Campground

The primary reason for visiting the Upper Peninsula of Michigan is to enjoy nature in all its unspoiled glory. With little development and even fewer people, much of it looks the way it did hundreds of years ago. Tahquamenon Falls is one of the most popular natural attractions in the area. Consisting of a 50-foot-tall by 200-foot-wide waterfall, it’s America’s third-largest waterfall by volume east of the Mississippi River. A half-mile-long pathway leads to the upper falls, while a four-mile-long hiking trail reaches the lower section. You can also rent a rowboat for a nominal fee to paddle around the falls area. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is another great spot less than two hours' drive from Bodi Lake Campground and one of the most scenic locations in the Upper Peninsula. The lakeshore’s magnificent sandstone cliffs are best explored via a sea kayak as their true beauty can only be observed from a distance. Fortunately, there are plenty of rental shops in nearby Munising. As long as you stick relatively close to shore, even a novice paddler should have no trouble. Staying closer to the campground, one of the downsides to RV camping in such a rural area is that gear rental shops are hard to come by. If you want to rent a kayak to use on Bodi Lake or Lake Superior, your best bet is to look into some of the resorts and hotels that may have extra stock to lend out. Outfitters are more common along the Lake Superior shore closer to Marquette, but these are going to be over an hour's drive from the campsites at Bodi Lake Campground.
