Discover New Baltimore RV rentals for memorable road trips

The first known European visitor was Pierre Yax, a German explorer, who arrived in New Baltimore in 1796. French trappers and farmers slowly trickled into southeastern Michigan in the subsequent years. In 1845, Alfred Ashley, who was an entrepreneur, purchased some farmland and divided the land into lots. He sold these lots to other settlers and called this fledgling new town Ashleyville. In 1867, the residents voted to become a proper town and changed the name to New Baltimore.

The Great Outdoors

Wake up to the sounds of nature and birdsong right outside your window when you rent an RV in New Baltimore. A travel trailer rental opens up a world of adventure and fun, especially on Lake St. Clair. The Canada-United States border divides the lake nearly in half, an on the USA side, there are several marinas with public docks. Some of these marinas have boats, kayaks, pontoons, and canoes for rent, also. Lake St. Clair is purported to be one of the world’s best muskie and walleye fishing spots. After catching your fish, head over to one of Michigan’s Catch-and-Cook restaurants where they’ll grill, sauteed, fry, or bake your fish for you. Fishing isn’t the only recreational activity, though. Swim, windsurf, tube, and dive. During the Prohibition Era in the 1920s, rum runners regularly used Lake St. Clair to transport illegal booze into Detroit, and a few inevitably wrecked. There are reports of old bottles of rums and moonshine being found around the wrecks. Muscamoot Bay is a notorious party spot; boaters and rafters often will congregate there. A festival is held right on the water annually, usually in early August.

RV Parks

When you book an RV in New Baltimore, be sure to figure out where you’ll park while you go on your adventures. Stony Creek Metropark in Washington Township, is one of the few public parks allowing RVs and campers in the area. However, they are open only on weekends between Memorial weekend and the middle of September.

Exploring the City

Whether you prefer the slower pace of a small town or the hustle and bustle of a big city, a luxury RV rental from New Baltimore makes it easy to find your ideal adventure. There are several historic homes dating back to the 18th century still standing today. In the heart of New Baltimore is small-but-elegant Grand Pacific House Museum, which was originally a premier hotel for elite Detroit residents. Today, the museum is a living history display, with some of the original furnishings, tools, and artifacts on regularly-rotating display.

My wife and I rented the QuadPodz for a week-long leaf-peeping trip in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and it made our adventure unforgettable. The van’s battery, solar, and water systems easily support 2-3 days off-grid. Heating kept us cozy on chilly mornings, and there’s ample storage plus a comfy bed for two. Cooking was a highlight- spacious kitchen, powerful induction stove, full cookware set, and good fridge space. All systems were simple to use. Marc was an excellent host- helpful, responsive, and thorough. A thoughtfully equipped van, highly recommend for your next adventure!
