Playing host to many lakes, Highland Recreation Area is one the havens for anglers in southeastern Michigan. An alternative to camping directly within the recreation area is to venture a little further south to the Haas Lake Park RV Campground. Full 20, 30, 50 amp electrical, water, and sewage hookups are provided here. Facilities include a dump station, laundry service, flushing toilets, a general store, and RV storage units. There are many pull-thru sites here, meaning all size rigs are welcome.

Exploring the Area

The town of Pontiac is only a short drive away from the Highland Recreation Area and makes for the perfect day out and sightseeing trip. The Sealife Aquarium in Pontiac in one such day out, one that is perfect for all ages. This is the state's largest aquarium and is home to a wide range of oceanic wildlife for everyone to see. Highlights of the Sealife Aquarium include blacktip reef sharks, green sea turtles, and cownose ray. Many kid based events are also held at the aquarium, making the perfect place to visit for the little ones.
