Getting Outdoors

It's worth bringing a sturdy pair of walking boots with you during your Island Lake Recreation Area camping trip, as the park has more than 18 miles of multi-use trails to get stuck in to. Although hiking is the preferred method of exploration here, some of the trails are open to biking and horse-riding too. Just pop into the park office before you visit to check which ones allow your preferred method of transport. Trails here are differentiated by colors, with the blue and yellow paths being the most popular. While the yellow trail is around six-miles long, the blue trail is a little more challenging at nine-miles. Both hikes reward walkers with scenic paths through dense forest, speckles of wildflowers during spring, and views along the riverbank.

We had a wonderful trip camping outside Traverse City. Joseph was very helpful and gave a great explanation for how to use the trailer. He included lots of useful equipment—hoses, tools, gloves, outdoor rug—that made setup and breakdown a breeze. He was also very responsive with questions we had while we were camping. We liked the experience so much we have already booked a second trip! Thanks for a great experience!!

We had a great experience with mitten trailblazers. Brad was prompt on getting back to me during the booking process and his detailed instructions on setting up made it a breeze. The camper was in like new condition and was fully stocked with everything we needed. Bunk beds were a huge win for the kids and the upgraded mattress was comfortable for sleeping! The weight distribution hitch was easy to use making towing easy. Will definitely book again.
