Sitting 50 miles north of Detroit, search for an RV in Livingston County, and have the experience to remember in the 4947 acres of great outdoors between Pinckney Recreation Area and Island Lake Recreation Area.

Located within proximity to one of Michigan’s larger cities, Brighton State Recreational Area is a great place where you can base your Livingston RV rental while exploring the Mount Brighton Ski Area and Whitmore Lake. Getting Outdoors

The terrain of the Brighton State Recreational Area is definitely a crowd puller. The park has a breathtaking mix of irregular and high ranges of hills intermingled with some rather beautiful lakes. Should boating be your thing, the beautiful lakes provide a boater's dream come true. If paddle sport is what takes your fancy, you will find one of the best places to indulge yourself in this park. If fishing is what you love to do most, you can pack your fishing rod in your RV rental and do not leave behind a generous amount of bait as you will truly be surprised at what the park has to offer. You will also have ample opportunity to take a dip in the pristine waters of the lakes in the park.

Visit Bishop Lake and have great fun at Jump Island. Here there is a galore of water sports. At Jump Island, get some of the best inflatable water park experience around Michigan. There is an obstacle course that will have the adrenaline gushing wildly throughout your body. There are also slides, inflatable icebergs, and other challenges that will have you doing all those things you dream of doing in a fun water park. Pack your water sports gear for this out of this world experience.

Brighton State Recreational Area has a generous serving of trails. Do not forget to pull out your hiking boots from your camper rental and hit the several miles of trail available for cross-country skiing, mountain biking, and equestrian. Hit the trails on horseback as the park has 18 miles of bridle trails and has riding stables. Also available is group horse riding, and for those who do not know how to ride, you can take lessons at the park. Should you have a horse, bring it to the park and have a ride in the campground.

Brighton State Recreational Area is great for families and is open all year round. You can enjoy the enormous outdoors at any time of the year at the park as they have great winter activities. The uplands at the park are dotted with open spaces, thick hedgerows, and oak forests blended together while the lowlands are strewn with dense swamp timber, shrub marshes, and grassy marshes.

Camping at Brighton State Recreational Area

When you are considering RV camping at the Brighton State Recreation Area, go right ahead and give it a trial. There are 144 camping sites on the upper and lower campgrounds at Bishop Lake. The well-lit lots on the lower campground are within walking distance to the beach and have full hookups. Clean bathrooms are also available at the lower site, which is well maintained, making camping on Bishop Lake a great delight. The upper campground on Bishop Lake has more trees and is shadier if you are one of those who prefer reduced sun.

Should you be the type that likes a secluded campground, pitch a tent at Murray Lake Rustic Campground. The campground has only 25 campsites for that much-desired privacy. The site is open weekends only; Memorial Day through Labor Day. The sites are grassy and well-sized, so parking won't be a problem.

Exploring the Area

The vastness and variety of activities at the Brighton State Recreation Area will ensure that you won’t run out of activities to enjoy when you are here. You may want to venture beyond the park for some entertaining activities to participate in. The surrounding area will not disappoint at all as it is packed with memorable places to visit. Visit the nearby township of Hamburg for a taste of the excellent cuisine served up in one of its fine restaurants before heading back to your rental RV.

You cannot stay at Brighton State Recreation Area without driving out to nearby Anna Arbor City. At Ann Arbor, you will find numerous attractions, including the famous museum named after the city. This would be a great place to visit for those who love history.
