For example, visit The Shrine of the Pines, located about 45 minutes' drive west of Sears. This museum, housed in a hunting lodge, exhibits furniture made of pine stumps. Raymond W. Overholzer made beds, chairs, chandeliers, and a dining room table from a 700-pound stump without using metal fasteners. He used broken glass as handmade sandpaper and raw deer hide to finish the project.

Lewis Farms and Petting Zoo is a 90-minute drive west of Sears and is a perfect place to spend a day with your kids. This 700-acre farm has homegrown produce, fruit orchards, a market with gifts and goodies, and a scrumptious bakery. They offer over 40 attractions including a BumpAlong Barrel Train, Observation Bee Hive, Aviary, Pedal Carts, and so much more. In the petting zoo, you can see llamas, alpacas, bunnies, Arabian camels, emus, deer, ponies, and other species.

Another interesting place to visit with kids is Flint Children’s Museum, located less than two hours' drive southeast of Sears. Here you can celebrate birthdays, go on field trips, and see different exhibitions. Some of the attractions you can see are Discovery Zone, Our Town, Performing Arts, Sproutside, and others. The museum is ideal for kids 2 to 10 years old, but everyone can find something fun to do here, in groups and individually.
