In northeastern Missouri, between Columbia and St. Louis, lies the little country town of Troy. It’s located just outside the city in the beautiful rolling hills and dense forests of the countryside. There are several lakes, streams, and rivers in the area, including the Cuivre and Mississippi Rivers. In the late 1600s, this area was home to native tribes who survived by hunting wild game and foraging in the lush wilderness. The profuse wildlife drew in trappers and explorers, starting with two Frenchmen, Louis Joliet and James Marquette. The first settlers arrived in 1799. They built log cabin homes and a double cabin that served as a courthouse, polling station and eventually a hotel. Today the town is a quaint collection of historic buildings, beautiful parks, and vibrant modern businesses. You can find fun, good food and great deals on your next trip when you book an RV in Troy.
