Getting Outdoors

An RV rental at Lake Avalon will give you easy access to all the outdoor activities available throughout the region. The lake itself was created by a dam on the nearby Pecos River. It is fairly large, though it is shallow. Lake Avalon's waters rarely exceed six feet in depth. This makes it a fine place for fishing or wading, to escape the heat of the noonday sun. This body of water, as well as the fingers and waterways that branch off of it, are also good places to paddle a kayak or canoe.

Camping at Lake Avalon

Camping with an RV is an option at Lake Avalon. There is a small camping area on the south shore of the lake. It is quite primitive, with few amenities offered. However, it does provide picturesque views of the nearby lake.

Exploring the Area

Book a camper in Eddy County, and you will find all sorts of interesting places to visit. There are things to do in and around Carlsbad. The Pecos River Flume is also called "the river that crosses itself." This flume crosses the Pecos River and was historically used for irrigation, to carry water to local farms. It was constructed by the settlers who first built the town. This aqueduct has been featured on the TV show "Ripleys Believe it or Not." An RV rental in this area will make it easy to reach locations the whole family can enjoy.
