The 980 acres Selkirk Shores National Park is located in the state of New York and offers a tranquil retreat from busy city life. Situated on the eastern shore of Lake Ontario, there are plenty of recreational activities both on and off the water. There is a beautiful mix of woodlands and meadows, and tons of wildlife to spot all year.
Many people choose to book an RV rental in Oswego County to watch the spectacular sunset over the lake, so be sure to pack a blanket and enjoy this incredible sight. Located on State Route 3, the park is easily accessible from several local towns such as Lacona and Syracuse. There are a huge number of amenities in the park which can be made use of, whether you are staying overnight or just for the day.
People come from miles around to bird watch at Selkirk Shores State Park due to the abundance of bird species that call the area their home or use it as part of their annual migration route. A bird conservation area has been strategically placed in the park for the protection of some of the rarer species. Fishing is also a popular past time, with people making use of the state park RV campgrounds to head out onto the water and try their luck for a catch. Often, they are successful as many species of fish such as salmon and trout can be found in the huge lake.

There are 12 hiking paths to choose from, each varying slightly in difficulty and are a mixture of marked and unmarked paths. There are many options when it comes to camping at Selkirk Shores State Park. The campgrounds are made up of four loops, and all offer a little something different depending on your needs. All sites are pet-friendly.
Acorn Loop has 47 sites and is equipped with electric hookups. Amenities here include a freshwater fill-up station, dump station, restroom, showers and a basketball hoop for a little fun. Bird Loop is smaller with only 18 sites available to rent and offers similar amenities with electric hookup. Chipmunk Loop has 31 electric hookup sites and is great for kids, thanks to the playground in the campsite. Lastly, Dragonfly Loop provides 32 sites and also has a playground.
Just outside of Selkirk Shores State Park is the town of Pulaski, which is ideal if you are looking for local shops or a night out when RV camping at Selkirk Shores State Park. In addition to useful amenities, Pulaski also has some interesting attractions that are worth checking out, such as the Pulaski Historical Society, ideal for those looking to learn more about the history of the area. For a little more culture, the Kallet Theater, a former opera house, is a good place to visit if you are hoping to catch a movie or even a live performance.
For those looking for a little family fun, head to Tri-Karts Super Golf, a company offering a range of exciting activities that can be enjoyed as a group, such as speeding round the track on go-karts or having a round of mini-golf. There are even kiddie karts for those that want to start at a younger age.
Adrenaline lovers will have a great time at Thunder Island, a family amusement park that features a huge array of thrills and sideshows. Brave the large zip line or bring a swimming suit and take on the slides into the pools below. A few favorites are the Black Water Tunnel Twisters and Thunder Rush Extreme Body Sliding. Visitors could easily spend the whole day here, making use of the many attractions and making family memories.
