The town of Orleans is home to more campsites than any other place in the state of New York. Tucked away right next to the border of the United States of America and Canada, on the northern part of Orleans, lies Wellesley Island State Park. What seems like an ordinary state park on a lake is in fact host to the largest camping complex in the whole area of the Thousand Islands region. Situated along the St. Lawrence River, the park sits just a short distance away from the towns such as Clayton and La Fargeville while Watertown is about half an hour away. Search for an RV in Jefferson County and see what makes this park popular among campers.

Opened back in 1954 by the Thousand Island State Park Commission, the park encompasses over 2630 acres of rustic countryside. Named as one of the top 100 state parks in the nation, it's a perfect place to get out and enjoy some outdoor adventures. Not only is it a great camping spot, but it is also an awesome hiking and fishing spot, not to mention a dozen other activities. Leaving the region without camping at Wellesley Island State Park could be a bad move as you would not know what you’re missing out on.
