Getting Outdoors

RV camping at Wildcat Lake is perfect for anglers who enjoy spending their day with fishing rods in hand. Thanks to the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission who regularly stocks the lake with bluegill, largemouth bass, and three varieties of trout, fishing in this lake is a delight. There’s a fishing pier, too, when you prefer fishing around the shore. Keep in mind that a North Carolina fishing license is required to fish in Wildcat Lake.

Camping at Wildcat Lake

Summer is the best time to camp out in your rental motorhome at Wildcat Lake. The Grandfather Campground RV Resort and Cabins in Banner Elk have 70 sites and offer a range of amenities including pull-thru sites, tent camping, full hookups, 20, 30, and 50 amp electric service, water, sewer, cable television, WiFi, and cell phone coverage. Campers have access to restrooms, bathhouses, laundry facilities, barbecue grills, picnic tables, and a playground for the kids to run around in. There’s a well-stocked trout pond close by when you want to fish. Bring your furry friends along to this pet-friendly campground.

We were grateful to Sarah and Josh for renting their van to us. It is well equipped with supplies to use for the week, labeled cabinets and good cooking equipment and linens for the van. Good instruction on use of the van and systems. We were able to comfortably travel all around Western NC. This van was a good fit for us exploring what travel and lodging would be like using a campervan with poptop. We look forward to more van travel. Using outdoorsy to try a van for travel was a seamless experience.
