Discover Top RV Parks & Campgrounds in Maryland

Sprawling around the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland shares its borders with Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the District of Columbia along the Mid-Atlantic coast. It's centered around the historically significant seaport of Baltimore, home to the birthplace of the United States' national anthem - Fort McHenry.
Named after the English queen Henriette Maria, Maryland was inhabited by the Algonquin, Iroquois, and Sioux Native American peoples before Europeans arrived in the 16th century. It was established as a religious haven for Catholics who had been persecuted in England, and many of its citizens played key roles in the American Revolution.
Maryland has been dubbed "America in Miniature" due to its diverse topography and climate, with the state boasting more than 4,000 miles of shoreline. From the sand dunes of the east to the wildlife-filled marshlands around the Chesapeake Bay and the oak-blanketed hills of the Piedmont Region, there's plenty to inspire and no shortage of RV campgrounds in Maryland to make it all possible.
RV Camping in Maryland
RVers wanting to visit Washington, D.C. can book a campsite at the Cherry Hill Park, which is just a 30-minute drive from the country's capital. Aside from its full-hookup RV sites, it boasts a hot tub, a sauna, an 18-hole miniature golf course, and two large swimming pools where you can cool off at the end of the day. It's also within easy access of the Maryland capital, Annapolis, if you want to spend a day visiting the United States Naval Academy and the 18th-century Maryland State House.
Partway between Washington, D.C. and Baltimore is the Washington DC / Capitol KOA Holiday, which lies on 50 acres of rolling countryside. It features a range of full-hookup RV sites, a jumping pillow, and basketball courts, plus a seasonal swimming pool and themed activities. A short drive west of Baltimore is Ramblin Pines, another popular Maryland RV park that exudes a peaceful, rural atmosphere. It makes a good base for attending the plethora of festivals that take place in the city throughout the year, including the Baltimore Artscape and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Parade.
From Baltimore, drive northeast to visit Elk Neck State Park, which sprawls across more than 2,000 acres near the southern tip of the Elk Neck Peninsula. There are around 250 basic campsites where you can bunk down for a night or two, as well as a children's playground, a nature center, and an on-site camping store.
The Castaways RV Resort & Campground is a good option for those wanting to explore the Atlantic Coast, including the Assateague Island National Seashore. This pet-friendly Maryland RV campground is just a stone's throw from the Ocean City Boardwalk and all its amusement attractions, and a short drive from the Pocomoke State Forest. Alternatively, head to the Frontier Town Campground, where you'll find a whole host of attractions, including the Western Theme Park, an adventure park, and an arcade.
Traveling with kids? Drive west to Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park, which is located on the southern outskirts of Hagerstown. It's within easy access to the Crystal Grottoes Caverns and South Mountain State Park while being equipped with family-friendly facilities that include a water park, zip line, and jumping pillow. Another popular local option is the Hagerstown / Antietam Battlefield KOA, which borders a creek where you can fish, float, and swim.
Campers wanting to explore the Appalachian Mountains can head to Greenbrier State Park. Its campsites cluster in a pretty, forested setting. There are clean bathhouses and freshwater available, not to mention a sprawling human-made lake where you can go fishing, swimming, and canoeing.
Historically-rich cities, rugged Appalachian landscapes, and family-friendly attractions; book a camper rental in Maryland and start planning your adventure to the Old Line State.
