Lakewood Camping Resort

Myrtle Beach State Park was the first park to open in the South Carolina State Park System in 1936. Come visit when you are camping at Lakewood Camping Resort. It is a refreshing oasis from the hustle and bustle of the developed Myrtle Beach area and offers a full mile of undeveloped beach with swimming as well as surf fishing. Fishing gear is available for rent. There is also a nature center with aquariums, live reptiles, an outdoor wildlife habitat, and interactive natural history exhibits. Other recreational activities include a sports and recreation area, playgrounds, nature trails, bird watching, and geocaching. Special events, guided tours, and educational programs for all ages are held throughout the year. The Waccamaw National Wildlife Refuge is part of the South Carolina Lowcountry Refuges Complex, and you can visit it with your Myrtle Beach camper rental. The refuge complex contains culturally and archaeologically significant sites that represent the connection between the coastal peoples and the land over time. The refuge is also home to native threatened and endangered species, freshwater fish, migratory birds, and forest wildlife. The visitor and environmental education center features an exhibit hall, live animals, and a book and gift shop. There are also miles of nature trails with interpretive signage, picnic areas with shelters, and a boardwalk. Other recreational opportunities here include hunting, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, boating, hiking, and nature and wildlife viewing and photography. Millions of people visit Myrtle Beach and the Grand Strand every year, for very good reasons, and you can join them when you are RV camping at the Lakewood Camping Resort. There are 60 miles of oceanfront beaches, world-class golfing, off-shore and in-shore fishing, the Conway Riverwalk, Brookgreen Gardens, the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk, and water activities such as jet-skiing, parasailing, banana boat rides, scuba diving, surfing, and more. Gear rentals and lessons for beginners are widely available. Whatever it is that you like to do outdoors, you can do it here in beach style.
