Eagle Lake is home to alligator gar, buffalo fish, catfish, and several similar species. Alligator gar in the lake has been known to grow to six feet long. Buffalo fish can weigh as much as 30 pounds. Anglers should definitely bring their heavy tackle for fishing Eagle Lake.

Eagle Lake is located in Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park; many Eagle Lake campers choose to camp in the park. The park offers 50amp electric and water hookups. Several campsites can accommodate a big rig. Restrooms are located near the campsites.
Exploring the Area
Many attractions around Eagle Lake are located near Memphis. Sultana Disaster Museum is in Marion, AR, which is just northwest of Memphis. The museum commemorates the Sultana Disaster of April 27, 1865. Hundreds of travelers, many of them freed Union prisoners of war, were traveling north on a steamboat. The boiler blew, and around 1800 people died. It’s one of the worst maritime disasters in world history.
