Within a short drive of several state parks and only 11 miles from the county's capital is the rural community of Cedar Creek, Texas. The area was first settled by a husband and wife who built their log cabin on the banks of Cedar Creek in 1832. More pioneers soon arrived in the region and by the mid-1800s, Cedar Creek had its own post office, Methodist church, and Presbyterian Church.

Today Cedar Creek is an excellent place to book an RV in Bastrop County. The county offers a wide variety of recreational activities including hiking, mountain biking, and camping. Paddle sports are particularly popular due to the many lakes and rivers in the region surrounding Cedar Creek.

The trail crosses the park from east to west with trailheads near Richmond and Cleveland. Explore the City

When you’ve finished exploring the great outdoors, don’t forget to take a look around Cedar Creek. This unincorporated community may be small but it still hosts a handful of department stores, mini markets, and gas stations where you can collect supplies for your road trip. You can also take a look at the community post office or grab a bite to eat in a local café.

Or, you can take your RV to the county seat of Bastrop which hosts a wider variety of eateries, shops, and attractions such as the Bastrop County Museum & Visitor Center. The city also hosts a number of sporting events and cultural festivals throughout the year. Each September, there is a 100-mile canoe race on the Colorado River and in August, you can take part in a stand-up paddle race or see dances and live music at the Bastrop Homecoming & Rodeo Festival.

Just outside of town is Cedar Creek Park, the first county park in Bastrop County. It was opened in 2009 and offers locals and visitors large picnic pavilions and easy walking trails. The park has sports courts for baseball, soccer, and softball. Plus, there’s even a charming butterfly discovery garden to stroll through.
