The Great Outdoors

Spreading across 500 acres, Baytown Nature Center is a peninsula surrounded by Scott, Crystal, and Burnet Bays. The nature center consists of tidal marshes, freshwater wetlands, and hardwood forests. These unique habitats are home for approximately 317 species of birds and make it one of the best spots for birdwatching in Texas. Because of the fragility of the ecosystem, motorized boats are not allowed. Fishing is not permissible either. However, you can explore the nature center via miles of nature trails, the butterfly garden, bike paths, or the kayak launch. Young children can enjoy the nature center’s playground. Less than 15 minutes' drive away in nearby Baytown, this nature center is a great place to experience the Texan outdoors.

RV Parks

If you plan on booking an RV rental in Highlands, Texas, you won’t be short on places to call home for the night. If you want a campground on the water, you might consider San Jacinto Riverfront RV Resort. For convenience and safety purposes, all the roads and pads at the campground are paved, and the RV park is gated. Each site is equipped with cable TV hookups, full hookups featuring 30/50 amp electrical service, and complimentary Wi-Fi at most sites.

Exploring the City

While enjoying your RV rental from Highlands, you can learn more about Texas’s history by visiting the San Jacinto Monument in La Porte. At the base of the monument, check out the San Jacinto Museum of History and theater which displays documents, books, images, and artifacts showcasing the history of Texas.
