Getting Outdoors

With countless public boating ramps scattered along Lake Bridgeport’s 170-mile shoreline, there are plenty of opportunities to get out and about on the lake’s calm waters. With half of the shoreline taken up by residential properties; there remain 90-miles of secluded coves and bays that can only be discovered by boat. Those motorhome camping with their own boat in tow can make a beeline for the North Side Marina, one of the best boat ramps for accessing the more remote areas of Lake Bridgeport. Those without their own equipment can also rent a kayak, canoe or motorized vessel from this marina for the duration of their holiday.

Fishing is also a popular activity while camping at Lake Bridgeport. Head out on your boat to one of the secluded bays or choose a quiet stretch of shoreline to set up for the day. This freshwater lake is home to an abundance of different species including a thriving population of white bass, catfish, and crappie. Although fishing is possible here all year round, rent a camper near Lake Bridgeport during the spring spawning run and start fishing close to one of the lake’s tributaries for the best chance at catching plenty of lively white bass!

Watersports are not the only activities that can be enjoyed when RV camping at Lake Bridgeport. There are also several green parks located on the lake’s shorelines allowing you to appreciate the water’s beauty without getting wet. Wise County Park is one of the largest parks in the area. Located on the northern shores of the lake, the park provides many day-use facilities such as showers and picnic tables as well as a small swimming area. Although the waters here are shallow and calm, do take care whilst swimming, as there are no lifeguards on duty.
