Split Rail RV Park

When you’ve finished exploring the great outdoors, you can take advantage of some of the nearby attractions. The largest city in the region, McAllen, is just a short distance away when you’re camping at Split Rail RV Park. Drop into town for a bite to eat, and you’ll find a wide selection of Mexican and American restaurants as well as international menus, coffee shops, and bakeries. In the evenings, you can enjoy the nightlife at a stylish bar or taste one of the local beverages in a traditional pub. If you want to do some shopping during your RV rental vacation, head directly to McAllen’s downtown area, also called the Business District. The streets here are lined with independently-owned stores and boutiques. There are a number of discount stores and wholesalers so you can find everything from home furnishings to vintage clothing. McAllen also offers a handful of shopping malls, plazas, and supermarkets where you can pick up familiar brand names. For a truly local experience and the freshest ingredients, visit the McAllen farmers' market. It’s held on Saturday mornings throughout the year. In addition to fresh and locally grown foods, you can also find handmade crafts and organic products. Other local highlights include McAllen's outdoor entertainment, such as movie nights and Thai Chi classes, which take place in the city’s urban parks. Another favorite is Sunset Live, a monthly event that’s held outside the McAllen Convention Center. Bring a picnic blanket or your favorite camping chair and listen to live music performed by regional bands. On these evenings, you can also browse the booths in a pop-up artisans’ market and purchase refreshments from a food truck. For anyone traveling with kids, the International Museum of Art and Science is a must-see. The museum is set up with multiple interactive exhibitions that should entertain and educate the little ones. Learn about healthy eating by picking veggies at the indoor garden, find out what it’s like to be in a real-life video game, and see science in action. Adults and art lovers can also appreciate the museum’s collection of Latin American artwork and sculpture garden. However you choose to spend your vacation at an RV park in South Texas, you’re sure to bring back a suitcase full of fun memories.
