Ricker Pond State Park is located in northeastern Vermont, near the town of Groton, which is only about 15 miles from the state border with New Hampshire. The nearest larger town is Woodsville, NH, which is found just across the state border. The nearest larger city is the state capital, Montpelier, which is around 30 miles to the northwest.

This part of the state is quite forested, and the state park is actually one of several that are situated within the Groton State Forest. There are all sorts of recreational activities to participate in here, including hiking, camping, winter, and water sports. If you enjoy the outdoors, you will never find yourself bored when you visit this park.

Renting an RV at Ricker Pond State Park will make it easy to enjoy all the activities this locale makes available. As is suggested by its name, Ricker Pond is found within the park. Trails at and near the park lead to such places as the Camel's Hump, which is one of the larger mountains found locally. Others skirt the ponds and waterways found locally, and one leads to an observation tower that provides scenic views of the surrounding countryside. Camping at Ricker Pond State Park

Ricker Pond State Park makes camping with an RV a breeze. There is a small campground available at the park, and if it doesn't fit your needs, other camping opportunities are available around the local area.

The campground is open from Memorial Day Weekend through the middle of October. A variety of campsites are offered, including those that are lean-to. Pets are welcome at the campsites, in the park, and on its trails, but not in any beach areas. Reservations are encouraged, but some sites may be available on a first-come-first-serve basis, depending on how busy the park is. Bathrooms and showers are also provided, but the campsites do not offer hookups.

When you're looking for a campground that offers more amenities, Sugar Ridge RV Village is in Danville, about 25 miles to the northeast of Ricker Pond State Park. This locale is situated just off of Route 2, one of the main roads in the local area, so it shouldn't be hard to find. The campground offers multiples pools (one is even heated!), as well as a mini-golf course and game courts. Showers, a laundry room, electric hookups, and miles of hiking trails are also provided here. As there are so many fun things to do nearby, many people enjoy RV camping at Ricker Pond State Park, so it shouldn't be hard to find any services you may need.

Exploring the Area

When you book an RV in Caledonia County, you will find yourself surrounded by interesting places to visit. Check out the Green Mountain Cemetery in Montpelier. This locale is known for its sculptures, carvings, and memorials. These include the "stairway to nowhere" that was carved into the granite wall, as well as an old tree stump that has since been carved into a chair, and now offers a place for visitors to rest. This goes as far into the past as when American Indian tribes first set foot here, all the way to the present. The well-known tourist spots around the state are highlighted as well. You can also visit the Historic Montpelier Train Station, which is also found in town.
