Visitors can paddle around the lake to enjoy its natural landscape or head over to one of the nearby islands, many of which have an interesting history. If you’d like to get out and explore the surrounding area with your camper, you’ll find plenty of places to visit. A few minutes away in Tacoma is Point Defiance Park. This park spans over 760 acres and is known for its zoo, aquarium, gardens, and walking trails. It has also recently opened a Dune Peninsula Park which features a massive bridge and hiking/biking pathways. While exploring the park, you might also come across some of the local wildlife, such as raccoons, geese, and seals.
