Taking its name from the nearby waterfall, Kettle Falls is a friendly and welcoming town in northeastern Washington. Incorporated in 1891, Kettle Falls was originally located in a different spot before the flooding of the valley and the building of the Grand Coulee Dam.

The epic Kettle Falls from which the town takes its name is a well-known and sacred space used for thousands of years by native tribes. This incredible fishing area is a perfect indicator of just how stunning the area is, and when you book an RV in Kettle Falls, the entire state is at your fingertips. Seattle might be far away on the other side of the large state, but places like Colville and Spokane are less than two hours’ drive from the charming town of Kettle Falls.

Discover Kettle Falls

The Great Outdoors

Just about every corner of Washington is beautiful in one way or another, with vast expanses of wilderness, evergreen forests, high mountain peaks, and magnificent seashores. Kettle Falls is situated on the Columbia River, sandwiched between the water and Colville National Forest. Colville National Forest has over one million acres of land in northeastern Washington, with nearly a fifth of it comprised of old-growth forest. There are charming hiking trails scattered throughout the forest, as well as long-distance hiking loops, so prepare your backpacks and hiking boots when you bring your Kettle Falls motorhome rental to the nearby forest.

Old Kettle Falls Recreation Site is the site of the first Kettle Falls, which was relocated after the building of the Grand Coulee Dam. There are scenic hikes through the woods with bizarre pathways and stairs leading into the water, remnants of the first Kettle Falls. You can swim or fish in the water, or simply look for interesting objects left behind after the flood.

Riverside State Park is down south by Spokane, perfect for a visit with the Kettle Falls RV rental by owner. The 11,000-acre park is one of the largest state parks in all of Washington, centered around the Spokane River and its many tributaries. There are lots of things to do when you visit Riverside State Park, like off-roading, horseback riding, swimming, fishing, birdwatching, biking, hiking, rock climbing, and camping when you rent an RV and want to stay for multiple days.

It isn’t exactly what one might consider to be close to town, but North Cascades National Park is a wonderful place to spend your Kettle Falls camper rental vacation when you have the freedom to explore. It is the closest national park to Kettle Falls, located around four hours’ drive away. There is no place quite like this remote wonderland in the mountains, with desolate wilderness areas, steep hikes, rugged canyons, mesmerizing views, and heavenly night sky viewing. The park is not heavily visited due to its remote location, making it a great place to visit when you want to avoid the crowds.

RV Parks

There may not be an overabundance of RV parks in the area, but finding one you like will certainly be an easy task. North Lake RV Park could be a nice place to stay a night or two, with panoramic views of the area. Spacious campsites, a camp store for supplies, playgrounds, bathrooms, and showers are just some of the amenities offered here.

Grandview Inn Motel & RV Park is another option, offering indoor lodging, tent camping, and RV camping. There are BBQ pits for big parties, cable TV, wireless internet, picnic areas, and a laundromat.

There are plenty of public campgrounds in the Colville National Forest, as well as other state parks and recreation sites in the area. Haag Cove, Canyon Creek, and Sherman Pass are just a few of the rustic campgrounds that await you and your Kettle Falls camper rental when you set off into the wilderness.

City Attractions

Kettle Falls is very outdoor-focused, and there are some lovely restaurants and a few wineries and vineyards centered in or around town. The Kettle Falls Historical Center is one of the few sightseeing opportunities you will encounter in town. This fascinating museum delves deep into the local history, going into a great deal of detail with regards to the moving of the original town, and all the work that came with building the Grand Coulee Dam. Informative videos and knowledgable guides help paint a picture of what life was once like in the area before the flooding took place. A great deal of effort was expended to move the town, and lots of sacred burial grounds belonging to the native people had to be moved to higher ground in a delicate process.

If you take a quick ride over to Colville, you can visit the Stevens County Historical Society, another fabulous resource for those interested in history. The society maintains several buildings, like the Fort Colville Museum, the Keller House, the Graves Point Lookout, and a heritage village.

If you like skiing or snowboarding, 49° North Mountain Resort is a well-kept secret in eastern Washington. Since 1935, there has been wintertime recreation in this powdery utopia, with skiing, snowboarding, tubing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and a variety of other fun activities. Furthermore, there are shops, bars, restaurants, cafes, ski and snowboard rentals, and live music events at the base of the mountain.
