Discover Morton

The Great Outdoors

A relatively quick drive in the Morton RV rental will lead you to Mount Rainier National Park. At 14,410 feet above sea level, Mt. Rainier marks itself as the tallest mountain in Washington, and one of the tallest in the contiguous United States. Skilled hikers can challenge themselves with a climb to the summit for one of the best views of Washington state you’ll ever get to see. Or, you can instead hike around the base of the mountain and explore the surrounding forest with its rivers and streams, meadows, and maybe even a rare pine marten, an adorable member of the weasel family.

An easy drive south of town is the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument near Castle Rock, Washington. At Mount St. Helens, a subset of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, visitors can learn more about the historic volcanic eruption of 1980. With an on-site learning center giving way to an all-encompassing network of trails, visitors can get close to the aftermath of the destruction and even explore the newly beginning forest and habitat surrounding the volcano. The monument perfectly shows that even after such destruction, life will still persevere.

If you enjoyed your time at Mount St. Helens, why not explore the rest of the park? With further access to the south, Gifford Pinchot National Forest near Randle, Washington, offers visitors access to one of Washington’s largest national forests. With just shy of 1.4 million acres of land, Gifford Pinchot is home to mountains, forests, waterfalls, and lakes. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can set out on the 26-mile section of the Pacific Crest Trail that cuts through the park. Visitors are often encouraged to explore the many sapphire lakes by boat to get a better sense of the various ecosystem around them.

RV Parks

When you rent an RV in Morton, you need to make sure you get yourself a spot at an RV park or campground. Luckily enough, there are a few places around Morton worth considering.

Just a short drive to the west of town is the Paradise RV Campground. Here, guests will have access to electrical hookups, restroom and shower facilities, laundry facilities, and an on-site store. Guests will also have access to an on-site library as well as nearby hiking trails.

Also just a short drive to the west is Harmony Lake RV Park. At Harmony Lake, guests will have access to full hookups, restroom and shower facilities, and Wi-Fi. Also with its location on a lakeshore, visitors can rent boats and spend some time on the water.

When you find yourself needing to restock and refuel your motorhome rental near Morton, be sure to plan ahead. Most options are a little bit of a drive to the west of town.

Explore the City

When you secure an RV rental in Morton, be sure to add in some “rest days” to explore the local community. There is so much to do in the surrounding the area that you will want to fit in as much as you can.

If you didn’t catch sight of that elusive pine marten and you’re hoping to see some animals, then head to the Northwest Trek Wildlife Park. You can hop aboard a tram tour and be guided through the half of the park that is open to visitors. On your tour, you may get to see moose, American bison, and bighorn sheep, plus more. Elsewhere in the park, you can walk along trails through different enclosures that feature cougars, bears, and wolves all living in their natural habitat.

If you’re looking for a little adrenaline, then spend some time at a zip line adventure. Here, you can fly through the towering pine trees as you soar through the sky. You will also get to climb through the trees and see the beauty of the Washington pine forests from a whole new perspective.

An easy drive northeast of town is the Recycled Spirits of Iron Sculpture Park. Here, your imagination can run wild as you walk through a sculpture garden crafted that has been made out of material found and repurposed by Dan Klennert. You will get to see animals, monsters, and other creative designs as you wander through the multiple yards. You might even get to meet the artist himself.

When you find yourself in need of a little pick me up after a long day of hiking and biking, sit down to a freshly made apple dumpling and a cup of local coffee. The fried cinnamon apple is often served with some ice cream and is the perfect sweet treat to the end of your Washington day.
