The small community of Hayward is located in the northwest corner of Wisconsin, near Cable and Spooner. Hayward was established by John Anthony Hayward, a lumber worker who moved from Eau Claire to build a lumber mill in the region. Due to Sawyer County being heavily forested, this was a success, and the city has been there ever since.

When you rent an RV in Hayward, you'll be close to many lakes, most notably Hayward Lake which the town surrounds, and Lake Superior which is roughly 70 miles north. The city is also surrounded by forests on all sides, making Hayward the perfect spot to escape the city and enjoy Wisconsin's natural wonders.

Discover Hayward

The Great Outdoors

There's no shortage of parks and lakes to discover when you book an RV rental in Hayward, and Hayward Lake is the perfect destination for those who enjoy water sports. This lake covers over 190 acres and is a favorite spot for anglers, with catches including bass, trout, and walleye. This lake is also popular with boats and features a boat launch for easy access. Hayward Lake connects to the Namekagon River which features numerous nature trails, including the Saint Croix Scenic Riverway, ideal for a riverside hike.

Another beautiful place to explore with a Hayward campervan rental is Kissick Swamp Wildlife Area. Situated just outside of town, this park covers roughly 160 acres of swamp along with a 10-acre lake and is very popular for bird and nature watching. Some of the critters inhabiting these wetlands include deer, turkey, and even bears. Other activities include hunting, canoeing, and cross-country skiing during winter.

If you're looking to get lost in nature when you rent a camper in Hayward, then consider visiting Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest near Clam Lake. This colossal forest covers 1.5 million acres of woods in the north of Wisconsin, making it the perfect place to escape civilization. The immense size of this forest means it has a diverse landscape including lakes, swamps, as well as forests. There are hundreds of trails that cover over 800 miles, so you'll see something new every time you visit. Some unique features of the forest include a 1930's fire watchtower, which gives amazing views of the surrounding area, and Cathedral Pines, one of the oldest white and red pine forests in Wisconsin.

RV Parks

Exploring the City
