Experience the Sites and Scenery

Arizona is incredibly diverse, with many different types of ecosystems scattered throughout the state. Desert is what most people think of when it comes to Arizona, but there are some incredible forests and mountain ranges that are perfect for hiking when you rent an RV in Florence. Picacho Peak State Park is just off of Interstate 10 between Tucson and Phoenix and quite easy to get to from Florence. The park has meadows of wildflowers, serene desert landscapes, and a prominent peak from which it gets its name. Picacho Peak is over 3,000 feet tall, created from molten lava that bubbled from the surface of the Earth millions of years ago. In addition to its scenery, the park has historical value too; it was the site of a few Civil War skirmishes, which did not happen west of the Mississippi River. Tonto National Forest sits east of Phoenix and is nearly three million acres of desert wilderness and epic canyons. More than six million people head to the sprawling forest each year to enjoy some of the state's best recreation areas. You can beat the heat and swim, fish, boat, or jetski in the Horseshoe and Bartlett Reservoirs. There are also eight wilderness areas with dozens of campgrounds where you can camp with your Florence RV rental.

Where to Park It

When it comes to camping, there are a few RV parks near Florence that you can utilize during your trip. Skyline RV Resort is for adults over the age of 55. It also has an in-ground pool, recreation hall, putting green, workout center, and a library too.

City Attractions

Florence is a bustling small town and one of the best suburban areas between Tucson and Phoenix. Believe it or not, there are lots of fun activities, informational tours, historical buildings, and museums to make use of while you rent an RV in Florence. Pinal County Historical Museum is a great place to start, especially if you like to learn about the towns you visit. This excellent institution lets patrons step back in time to the old west, where outlaws, cowboys, and bounty hunters had frequent shootouts in town. There are lots of lovely antiques housed in the museum, including a well-preserved carriage from over 100 years ago. McFarland State Historic Park is another fabulous resource when it comes to learning about history. The park is home to dozens of old landmark buildings built over 100 years ago.

The RV overall was great. It handled well while driving and was comfortable even during long periods of driving. We traveled from Arizona to Montana and back and the van averaged about 15 mpg. There were windshield and window covers that allowed for total privacy in the van at night while camping. The space in the van was tight at times, but once we got a routine down for setup and breakdown, things went very smoothly. Connnecting to city water, electric, and sewer was very easy at the campgrounds. The water heater worked well after it had some time to run and made enough hot water for both of us to take a warm shower. The shower was nice to have, though it was a little bit of tight space and the curtain would stick to you which made it feel smaller. With the two burner gas stove and provided pot/pans/silverware/utensils, we were able to easily make a full meal each night for dinner. The fridge was large enough to hold everything we needed for 5 days worth of meals. There was a good amount of storage under on of the bench sides, though it would not be large enough to fit normal size carry-on luggage. There was also some overheard storage that was perfect for the non-refrigerated food/snacks, as well as some smaller items. You will want to bring a good tool kit for emergencies. We did experience a small water leak at the sink connection, likely from city water over pressure, but thanks to the tool kit we brought I was able to fix it. The van definitely met our needs during our trip and it was nice to always have a bathroom on the road if you needed it! Perfect vehicle to have while driving through Yellowstone.
Our host, Chris, from Scottsdale RV Life was great! He gave us his number and made himself available for any questions or issues that came up throughout our trip. Anytime we had anything pop up, Chris responded relatively quickly and did his best to help out how he could. We had anything pop unfortunate incident while driving back of a utility vehicle loosing a metal sign from the back of their truck right in front of us, causing us to have to run it over. We had to pull over due to the sign getting stuck and contacted Chris. Chris was great throughout the process from getting us connected to roadside service and dealing with the claim process afterwards. Luckily, there was no damage at the end of it all and we did not have to continue with the claim. I am confident if we did have to deal with the claim process, Chris would have been very helpful and great to work with throughout that.
I would highly recommend renting from Chris!

Nicole was a great host. Excellent communication throughout our experience. The van ran great and was very comfortable and well set up with everything you need (cooking supplies/tools, linens, recreational items…the list goes on!) She provides a great instruction manual with pictures and diagrams to make sure you know how everything works. Convenient self check-in and out. Highly recommend
