RV rental Hammonasset Beach State Park, CT: Motorhome rentals, camper van rentals and more

Hammonasset Beach State Park is fringed by golden sand and crystalline water, making it one of the top places in Connecticut to cool off on a hot summer's day. In fact, it's the largest shoreline park in the state. Don't forget your beach umbrella, deck chair, and a good book. Modern bathroom blocks with restrooms and showers make Hammonasset Beach a great option for families. If you feel like stretching your legs, a wooden boardwalk stretches along the shoreline. As you stroll along the beach, you'll see people flying kites, walking dogs, and skimboarding along the sand. The sheltered sound also makes Hammonasset Beach an ideal place to launch a kayak or canoe. Anglers will jump at the chance to cast a line off jetties at Meigs Point and West Beach. If you're lucky, you could reel in striped bass, bluefish, winter flounder, and other saltwater species – perfect for frying up back at your RV rental. At the tip of the peninsula, the Meigs Point Nature Center is filled with engaging exhibits on the unique coastal ecosystem. It also offers a dynamic lineup of programs and activities, as well as a flower-filled garden that attracts a kaleidoscope of butterflies during the spring, summer, and fall. Marked trails start at the center and take you through lush saltwater marshes. Keep an eye out for nesting ospreys. By the ocean, West Beach is an important nesting ground for endangered piping plovers.
