RV rental Franconia Notch State Park, NH: Motorhome rentals, camper van rentals and more

The first thing you should do while camping at Franconia Notch State Park is lace up your hiking boots and hit the trails. Dubbed one of the park’s “most cherished hikes,” the Lonesome Lake route departs from the Lafayette Place Campground and ascends more than 1,000 feet up Cannon Mountain. From here, you can connect to other popular paths, including the Hi-Cannon Trail and the Cascade Brook Trail. Hikers are advised to check weather conditions before setting out, as many trails in the park are prone to flooding. Keen to see the park from a unique perspective? Admire this mountainous region from a dizzying height of 2,180 feet on the park's aerial tramway. The tramway has welcomed passengers since 1938, making it the oldest operating passenger aerial tramway on the continent. On a good day, you can even see clear to Canada. After disembarking, spend some time at the observation deck, or grab a snack from the cafeteria. Hiking trails also depart from the summit, allowing visitors to take their time on the descent. Franconia Notch State Park is also deservedly popular with winter wanderers. Carve down Cannon Mountain, the highest ski summit in the state, or brave the Falling Waters Trail in your snowshoes. Along the way, you’ll discover breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and three frozen waterfalls, most notably Cloudland Falls. Due to challenging conditions, winter activities are best suited to experienced adventurers. Other exhilarating activities include rock climbing, fly fishing, wildlife watching, and swimming. When preparing to camp at Franconia Notch State Park, you’ll want to create an itinerary to experience everything this awe-inspiring area has to offer.
