Moose Brook State Park is located near the small town of Gorham, in northern New Hampshire. This is a fairly rural part of the state. The larger town of Conway is found around 30 miles to the south and Berlin, NH is only around five miles to the north. In addition, the state border with Maine sits around 10 miles to the east.
Moose Brook State Park is situated just north of Mount Washington and the White Mountain National Forest. The state park sits within the pine forests and wooded hillsides that are common to this part of the country. Reservations can only be made at the campground at the park during the busy summer season, Memorial Day through Columbus Day. The rest of the year campsites are rented on a first-come-first-serve basis. Pets are allowed at the park but not on the beach or the swimming areas. Bathrooms, showers, and potable water are available for guests during the summer season, as well.
White Birches Camping Park is also located nearby. This campground is open from around the first of May through the middle of October. It offers sites that provide a variety of hookups, a laundry room, bathrooms, and showers. Pets are also welcome here. The Conway Scenic Railroad departs from North Conway, which is around 30 miles south of the park. From here, you can ride on a historic, steam train that offers scenic views of the surrounding mountains as it meanders through the local countryside.
