Seeing as though the Women’s Rights National Historical Park is more history-based than your typical state park, there aren’t many physically intensive activities to be done inside the property. That isn’t to say, though, that the park doesn’t encourage you to get outside. The convention days are major events for the park. Each year a theme is picked, and speakers, tours, and other programs are held to really engage guests. You can expect most of this to take place outside with plenty of walking around the grounds. Declaration Park and Waterwall are two attractions at Women’s Rights National Park that encourage people to sit, learn, and reflect in a peaceful green space. Declaration Park sits beside the visitor’s center and the Wesleyan Chapel, where that first convention was held. Along the park’s boundaries, a 100-foot long bluestone wall is inscribed with text from the convention and offers more insight into what happened behind those chapel doors. Take your time making your way down the wall and really take it all in. History can be intense stuff, so clear your mind at some wonderful local natural spots in Seneca Falls. There are several easily accessible hiking trails for varying levels and biking paths. The Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge is a seven-minute drive from downtown Seneca Falls. With permits, visitors can hunt, fish, and boat. The refuge is a fabulous area for photography and general environmental education.
