With more than 1,700 acres to explore, there's plenty to see and do in Kettle Creek State Park. And for many visitors, the best way to start your visit is to get out on the water. The park is home to Kettle Creek Reservoir, a 167-acre lake that supports a variety of water sports. Restricted to electric motors only, the reservoir is a tranquil and idyllic feature for campers of all ages to enjoy. Kayaking and canoeing are two of the most popular pastimes on the lake, while windsurfing and sailing are also permitted. Sixty mooring spaces and a boat launching area can be found at the northern end of the lake, while campers can also take advantage of free overnight mooring. As you'd expect, fishing is also a great way to spend the day in Kettle Creek State Park. The reservoir has a well-earned reputation for offering excellent trout and bass fishing, while panfish, sucker, and brown bullhead can also be caught in its cool waters. The Lower Campground, which also boasts an ADA-accessible fishing pier, is the perfect spot to park up for the night if you're a keen angler. And if you're visiting in winter, ice fishing is also allowed on the lake. When you're not on or near the water, you'll probably want to set out and explore some of the local trails. While there are only two miles of trails within the park itself, there are numerous other trails in the surrounding wilderness. These include the 53-mile Donut Hole Trail for backpackers, which can be accessed near the Lower Campground. Mountain bikers are also well catered for in the area. Nearby Sproul State Forest boasts a number of mountain biking trails, several of which can be accessed from Kettle Creek State Park. The 21-mile Eagleton Mine Camp Shared Use Trail is one of the forest's main attractions for two-wheeled adventure enthusiasts.
