Discover Sizerville State Park

Getting Outdoors

While there's a wide range of activities on offer in Sizerville State Park, fishing is the number-one choice among Sizerville State Park campers. Both the east and west branches of Cowley Run boast an abundance of brown and brook trout, and the west branch is easily accessible from the campground.

If you're looking for fishing opportunities outside of the park, nearby Sinnemahoning Creek is a great spot to target trout as well as smallmouth bass. The streams are stocked in spring, so plan your visit accordingly, and don't forget to bring a rod or two.

When you've had your fill of fishing, it might be time to strap on your hiking boots and set out to navigate the park's five-mile trail network. There are five loop trails to choose from, so check out the trail routes and descriptions to pick one you'd like to explore.

If you're hiking with kids, the easy-going Bottomlands Trail is a good place to start. For something a little more challenging, check out the three-mile Sizerville Nature Trail or climb the 1,900-foot mountain on the Nady Hollow Trail. And if you're feeling particularly adventurous, you can also head into Elk State Forest to check out this huge wilderness area's trail system — just make sure you grab a copy of a map and plan your route before heading out.

The other most popular activity in Sizerville State Park would have to be swimming. The park has its own 105-foot-long swimming pool, as well as a smaller wading pool for younger campers. It's the ideal place to cool off in the summer months, especially if you've just tackled a long hike. There's also a lift in the pool to ensure that it's accessible for people with disabilities.

Camping at Sizerville State Park

Open from mid-April to mid-December, this camping area offers a secluded and peaceful spot to park your rig for a night or three. There are 18 electric sites and five tent-only sites available, and the stream is just a short walk away from all sites.

ADA-accessible facilities are provided, with flushing toilets and showers ensuring that you don't have to "rough it" if you want to stay here. A dump station, an outdoor amphitheater, and a kids' play area are all provided for added convenience.

Finally, it's also worth mentioning that pets are permitted on two electric and two tent-only sites for a fee. You'll also need to keep your pooch on a leash and clean up after them at all times if you want to visit Sizerville State Park with your dog.

Exploring the Area
