Located in Phoenix in the state of Arizona, the park is a desert mountain preserve that’s also a part of the Phoenix Mountains Preserve System and is a Phoenix Point of Pride too. Covering over 16,000-acres of mountainous and desert area, South Mountain Park is also home to three mountain ranges – Ma Ha Tauk, Gila, and Guadalupe. Camping with an RV at South Mountain Park gives you access to a range of outdoor recreation and vast expanses of desert vegetation.

About seven miles from Phoenix, the park is not too far from the cities of Scottsdale and Chandler. Renting a camper is an easy way of getting around to check out these neighboring cities, and you’ll find a range of affordable motorhome rentals in Maricopa County for your enjoyment. Your RV rental will also come in handy to access diverse parts of this massive park that covers nearly 25 square miles of native desert vegetation. The park was initially known as Phoenix Mountain Park when it came into being in 1924, and the Civilian Conservation Corps constructed much of the park’s original infrastructure. Today, the park is one of Phoenix’s main outdoor recreation areas, attracting visitors from various parts of the state.
