There’s no shortage of outdoor adventures and recreational activities to get involved in when you have a luxury RV rental in Alpine. The only difficulty is deciding where to begin your trip. One hour’s drive northeast of Alpine, via the CA-79, is Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. With more than 600,000 acres to its name, this state park hosts a variety of desert gardens and wildflowers as well as canyons, high peaks, rocky ridges and even a section of the famous 2,650-mile Pacific Crest Trail. The trail traverses five of California’s state parks. Hardy hikers can prepare themselves for tougher treks on the some of the self-guided nature loops such as the Elephant Tree Nature Trail, Cactus Loop Nature Trail, or the Borrego Palm Canyon Nature Trail. Even visitors who prefer to drive will have something to do at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. Erosion Road is a 21-mile one-way road which begins at the visitors center and continues along through the Borrego Badlands. Farther north is Cleveland National Forest, home to Cedar Creek Falls, Bear Valley, and the goldspotted oak borer beetle. Nature lovers can identify many species of plants by walking the El Cariso Nature Trail or the San Juan Loop. Meanwhile, adrenaline seekers can go mountain biking on trails in the Corral Canyon, Laguna Mountain, Los Pinos, and Ortega Highway areas. Aside from the Pacific Crest Trail, hikers can walk the easy and level Big Laguna Trail and Observatory Trail, or hop onto the more challenging Morgan Trail, Wild Horse Trail, and Secret Canyon Trail. This national forest also welcomes horseback riders, ATV drivers, and picnickers. There are a number of campsites inside the forest which accommodate your Alpine travel trailer rental. A little closer to home is Cuyamaca Ranch State Park which offers scenic hiking and tranquil camping at Green Valley and Paso Picacho. These campsites are set among colorful meadows and oak forests which are sprinkled with pines and trickling creeks. Some of the most popular trails begin from either of these campsites including hikes to Cuyamaca Peak and Stonewall Peak. In addition to hiking, the park's 100 miles of trails are suitable for biking and horseback riding. Visitors can get their toes wet at Lake Cuyamaca, where you can rent boats or swim. Alternatively, daytime visitors can take advantage of the picnic and grilling areas dotted about the park.
