Discover Bethel Island, CA

The San Francisco Bay squeezes into the San Pablo Bay which condenses down into the Suisan Bay and, ultimately, the San Joaquin River. It’s just off the San Joaquin River where Bethel Island sits. It’s nestled along the Franks Tract State Recreation Area and only about 50 miles outside the San Francisco city limits. If you search for an RV in Bethel Island, you will be surrounded by water, beauty, and plenty of natural wonder, not to mention the exciting city life San Francisco and Sacramento (to the north) offers.

El Dorado National Forest is a bit more than 100 miles away, but it can be a wonderful adventure when you rent an RV with family in this area. If you want to take advantage of the Pacific Ocean, you can visit Point Reyes National Seashore, just to the north of San Francisco. You can get there by choosing to either cross the Bay on Interstate 580 through San Quentin or take Interstate 80 into San Francisco and cross the Golden Gate Bridge. Mendocino National Forest north of Santa Rosa is a bit longer drive, but worth the trip if you love the great outdoors.

The Great Outdoors

Big Break Regional Shoreline is located in Oakley, California, and is a decent park with a good visitor center. Most of the walking trails are paved so it’s ideal for bicycles and strollers and you can fish off one of the piers here. There is a large amphitheater that may have a concert going on, but most of the time you’ll likely find people congregating or sitting down just relaxing. The visitor center does offer some wonderful exhibits that can give you some history into this particular place.

Brannan Island State Recreation Area could be a great place to visit with a Bethel Island luxury RV rental. It is a 300-acre park that’s incredibly popular for those who love fishing, swimming, and hiking. You can also launch a small boat from here and they do provide swimming opportunities. You can camp with a tent, but you won’t be able to park your RV trailer rental from Bethel Island here.

Diablo West Park is located in Antioch and is a clean, decent park. They have playground equipment for children and there is also a basketball court. There are restrooms and there is ample space in the parking lot to guide your camper rental from Bethel Island in.

RV Parks

The Contra Costa County Fairgrounds is located in Antioch and is considered relatively small, though they do provide full hookup service, including 30 amp electric. They allow pets but don’t offer much when it comes to amenities. The RV park is fenced in and considered safe. They don’t require reservations, but there are only a few sites so it’s best to arrive early.

The Rio Viento RV Park is located in Rio Vista and offers full hookup service, including 30 and 50 amp electric. They also have restrooms and provide big rig access. When you have a motorhome rental in Bethel Island, this could be a decent place to stay, especially if you want to be close enough to the San Francisco Bay Area. The Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve is also located in Antioch and can be a wonderful place to take the family. After a recent rain, it is sometimes considered one of the most beautiful locations. There are plenty of different hikes of varying lengths and difficulty levels. You can also simply enjoy a nature walk throughout the Antioch area.
