You’re not far from the magnificent Big Basin Redwoods, California’s oldest state park. There are more than 80 miles of trails here with diverse habitats that wind past waterfalls, wildlife, and the largest ancient redwood groves still standing south of San Francisco. Set out from here to trek the epic Skyline-to-Sea trail. Thrill seekers can see the redwoods from a different perspective by taking an exhilarating zipline or sky bridge on a Redwood Canopy Tour.

You have an array of amenities and settings to choose from when it comes time to park your motorhome rental from Felton. The Santa Cruz Redwoods RV Resort offers guests a year-round, family-oriented campground with full hook-ups and a recreational clubhouse, among other amenities. The wooded RV park is right on the San Lorenzo River and backed by Henry Cowell State Park, making it a great base camp for outdoor adventures. Just be advised Highway 9 north from Santa Cruz is not always a recommended route for RV’s and trailers, so plan ahead for alternate travel routes to this park.
Exploring the City
The wooded downtown of Felton is full of nostalgic remnants from early California. Housed in the valley’s oldest church building, the San Lorenzo Valley Museum has permanent collections and rotating exhibits that give a great sense of this region’s interesting past. You might also want to visit the 80-foot long Felton Covered Bridge, built in 1892 as the primary entrance to the former logging town. It's considered to be the tallest covered bridge in the nation and although it closed to traffic in 1937 you can still enjoy a walk on it.
