Rancho Santa Fe sits in the northern part of San Diego County. Originally it was part of a Mexican land grant but in 1906, the Santa Fe Railway purchased the land in order to plant blue gum eucalyptus, which would be used as railroad ties. Unfortunately, the wood ended up too soft to hold down the railroad spikes and a different wood was required. The town grew and now is situated in a prime geographical location, especially for those who wish to book an RV in San Diego County.
