Discover Rancho Santa Fe, CA

Rancho Santa Fe sits in the northern part of San Diego County. Originally it was part of a Mexican land grant but in 1906, the Santa Fe Railway purchased the land in order to plant blue gum eucalyptus, which would be used as railroad ties. Unfortunately, the wood ended up too soft to hold down the railroad spikes and a different wood was required. The town grew and now is situated in a prime geographical location, especially for those who wish to book an RV in San Diego County.

There are certainly many places to visit all throughout this part of Southern California. Sunset Cliffs Natural Park is located on Point Loma (outside San Diego) and can be a wonderful stop when you rent an RV here, especially during the spring and early summer months when the whales are migrating. You can actually see them from high up on these cliffs. You can also visit Cabrillo National Monument, at the very southern tip of Point Loma. If you feel up to the drive, you can head north, beyond Escondido, and visit the Cleveland National Forest and Palomar Mountain, home to the Palomar Observatory.
