Riverpoint Landing Marina & Resort in Stockton, California is a great place to vacation. This is a fine resort for an overnight stay or as a headquarters for an extended stay in the fabulous Delta. The park has 32 sites in a comfortable setting with great amenities. Most of the sites are along the Stockton Deepwater Channel. The sites have excellent views of the activity on this waterway. People are fishing and water skiing in usually fine weather. Residents will also see the freighters traveling from the local port to the ocean. Magnificent sunsets over Mt. Diablo are often a treat for the residents of the park. All of the sites have water and 30 or 50 amp electricity. The dump station is available to empty holding tanks. Showers, ice facilities, and the laundry room are conveniently located. Weekday stays are a specialty of the park. Campers will be happy with easy access to Interstate 5, the downtown waterfront, and the University of the Pacific.

Folsom Lake SRA ? Beal's Point Campground

State Parks can make great places to set up camp. Folsom Lake State Recreation Area has quite a number of campgrounds, and facilities vary, but Beal?s Point can accommodate RVs up to 31 feet long, and is a family friendly site with space for just under 70 vehicles. The site is open all year round, but does not offer individual electric hook up points. It does, however, have piped drinking water, and a trailer dump station. If you are visiting during peak season, be sure to make a reservation ahead of your visit. The park itself has a great deal to offer its visitors, and you can really make the most of being outdoors with activities like hiking, cycling, horseback riding, fishing and boating. Lake Folsom itself has fish such as trout, bass, perch and catfish. Lake Natoma is just downstream, and is a place where you can do some sailing or kayaking.

Folsom Lake State Recreation Area ? Beal's Point

Rancho Cordova, CA

If you enjoy parking up in State Parks, and want to be within reach of Rancho Cordova in California, then Folsom Lake State Recreation Area can make for a good choice. It is less than ten miles from Rancho Cordova, and has a number of campgrounds offering a range of facilities. Beal?s Point has space for approaching 70 RVs, and can accommodate vehicles up to 31 feet long. There are no electric hook-up points here, but piped drinking water is available, and there is a trailer dump station. Beal?s Point is open throughout the year, but it is advisable to book ahead during peak season. Folsom Lake State Recreation Area itself is a great place to visit, and you can enjoy a range of outdoor activities including hiking, cycling, horseback riding, fishing and boating. If you are keen to do some watersports, Lake Natoma, just downstream from Folsom lake is the place for sailing and kayaking.

The world famous Folsom Lake offers a ton of RV camping options along the scenic shores. As a bonus the American River trail ends here allowing you to hop on the bikes and ride a paved multi-use trail all the way down into Sacramento (just not that down part because it is uphill all the way back!) RV sites are available both with and without hookups so if you want to save some money on a campsite get a RV rental with a generator and book a primitive site.

Casswell Memorial State Park

Ripon, CA

RVs under 24-feet, and trailers under 21-feet can be accommodated at the Casswell Memorial State Park, as can tents. This lovely site gives visitors an opportunity to enjoy being outdoors, and to participate in a range of activities. These include fishing, river swimming, geocaching, hiking and cycling. There are hiking and cycling trails to explore, and, if you are keen on watching wildlife, there are opportunities for nature and wildlife watching. The site is a wonderful place to park up and enjoy a totally different experience. Here, nature takes over, and you can relax as you watch the Stanislaus River flow through the park, and, perhaps, sit on a beach area and take a paddle in the river to cool off. Being California, it does get pretty hot here during the summer months, so be prepared, and, given that this is a park with lots of woodland and trees, also be prepared to encounter mosquitos and other insects.

Yuba City Astronomical Observatory

The Yuba City Astronomical Observatory is a wonderful place for visitors of all ages. The observatory is owned and operated by a family trust and located south of the city near the Sutter Buttes Mountain Range. Visitors will be impressed with the entire facility. There is one nine foot dome for the brilliant scientists who study astronomy. There is also an 11 inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The focused study using the observatory includes planetary, deep sky, NEO studies, photometry, and astrophotography. The observatory is operated by a trustee appointed by the family. The facilities were established in September of 2010. The staff at the observatory hosts star parties in order to get the people in the community to be excited about the sky above them at night. They focus is on providing educational programs for members of the community. All the members of the community and visitors are welcome to these special events.
