Branch Brook Campground

Like many small towns in New England, Thomaston has its fair share of historical sites, old colonial-style homes, and quiet streets with locally owned businesses ready to greet you. Dine on local foods in small-town eateries, peruse the art galleries in town, or visit museums like the Railroad Museum of New England which celebrates the historical legacy of locomotives in the Northeast. The museum features an old depot that has now become a main part of the institution. A train ride is also part of the rail-themed experience when you visit this gem of a learning destination. Over in nearby Bristol, you can find some other dazzling attractions, like the American Clock & Watch Museum or the New England Carousel Museum, which both pay homage to the past in different ways. Over 1,500 pieces are housed in the American Clock & Watch Museum, with watches and clocks from a variety of periods representing an assortment of unique styles and features. The New England Carousel Museum has more than just carousels, with wings of the museum dedicated to Greek culture, local artwork, and firefighting history in addition to a fully restored carousel and a gift shop. Also found in Bristol is the ESPN headquarters for the internationally known sports broadcasting network, where tours can be given to the public. Lake Compounce is a famous theme park by the lake where you can have some thrills on amazing wooden roller coasters and water-based attractions.
