Three Rivers Campground

Book an RV in Jackson County, and you will have at your disposal the perfect campervan rental for meeting all of your vacation needs. Once you're behind the wheel, start out by heading for Silver Lake Wildlife Management Area across the state line in Georgia (but still a short drive away). The area was originally owned by a paper manufacturing company, but eventually, the Department of Natural Resources later assumed ownership. It is a combination of wetlands and stands of longleaf pine, mixed pine, and hardwood trees with the lake at its center. You can come here to enjoy boating and fishing, camping, hiking, and other activities. The park is home to gopher tortoises, bald eagles, and a variety of other birds and mammals. Lake Talquin State Park and Forest is a series of land tracts clustered around the Ochlockonee River and Lake Talquin, two significant bodies of water. The types of ecosystems you'll find here are upland pine forest, flatwoods, sandhills, floodplain forests, and swamps. The variety of natural settings provides habitats for an equally diverse number of birds and mammals, such as red-shouldered hawks, bald eagles, bobcats and coyotes, and many more. There are a number of service roads, old roadbeds, and established trails that wind through the park, allowing you access to hiking, mountain biking, and picnicking in the area, and you can also enjoy canoeing, kayaking, and boating via the public boat ramps on the lake. Keep your RV rental on hand, and you can combine lunch and comfortable chairs with your outdoor excursions. Apalachee WMA is an outdoor recreation area that is open to the public year-round and is part of the Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail. The landscape consists of longleaf pine uplands with pockets of ponds, wetlands, and floodplain forest dotted throughout. An unpaved road system crisscrossing through the area provides you the opportunity to hike and mountain bike through the park, and you can paddle or kayak by starting from one of the park's several boat launches. Keep your eyes peeled for the white-tailed deer that populate the area; they are skittish, so you might have a better chance of spotting them from your boat than if you're on foot.
