Sitting on the eastern part of Jasper County, Rock Creek State Park got its name from Rock Creek that cuts through the park. The 602-acre Rock Creek Lake is the main feature of this state park. With over 15 miles of shorelines, this lake is best known for its fishing. There are many boat launches and docks conveniently located along the lake.

Getting Outdoors
Those with an RV come to Rock Creek State Park for many recreational activities, especially in summer. Fishing is the most popular activity in the park. Rock Creek Lake is a habitat for black crappies, white crappies, bass, channel catfish, bluegill and green sunfish. Walleye, catfish, and bullhead are also common species found in lake waters. There is a marina within a short walking distance from the campground where anglers can get baits and fishing supplies. There is a fish cleaning station within the facility. The park concession offers fishing boat rentals.
Camping at Rock Creek State Park
Rock Creek State Park offers a secluded campground right on Rock Creek. Located on the east shore of Rock Creek Lake, the campground is open May through September and offers 200 campsites where you can park your travel trailer rental. There are electric, non-electrical, and primitive campsites to choose from.

You’ll find a huge selection of affordable motorhome rentals in Newton and in neighboring Prairie City. There are many lovely places to visit near Rock Creek State Park. One of the great activities you can enjoy while camping at Rock Creek State Park involves taking a trip to the nearby Jacob Krumm Nature Preserve for fun. Sitting on 450 acres, the park is open all year round and offers a seven-mile trail. In summer, this trail is perfect for hiking while in winter it turns into a cross-country skiing trail. For anglers, there is a 25-acre manmade lake. Jacob Krumm Lake provides a habitat for many fish species including crappie, catfish, bluegills, and bass. Depending on the time of the year, many birds can be seen along the shores of the lake.

Troy was great to work with! Very responsive to communications and was very accommodating to my schedule for pickup and dropoff. He also gave great instructions on setting everything up and how to use everything. The rv itself was great. Drove well (side and backup cameras to help ease your mind when driving such a large rv). The rv was very clean and had most kitchen gadgets you would need and extra bedding. I have slept on some extremely uncomfortable camper mattresses over the years, and I have to say this one is probably the MOST COMFORTABLE camper mattress I've ever slept on. We did not use the water because where we were camping didn't have hookups, but Troy did fill the tank for us just in case we ended up wanting to use the water, which was very kind of him. Overall, it was a great experience and I would definitely rent Troy's rv again.
