In eastern Massachusetts, midway between Worcester and Framingham and a few miles south of Marlborough, you’ll find one of the last remaining CCC camps in Massachusetts. Upton State Forest is 2,600 acres of wooded wonderland.

In 1935, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) began construction on Upton State Forest, and three years later, it was opened to the public. The CCC built a rec hall, two forest roads, picnic areas, and a giant dam that eventually made Dean Pond, which takes up ten acres of the park.

Clean restrooms, hot showers, and a small fishing dock are also provided.

Circle CG Farm has everything you’ll need for a comfortable stay: full hookups, pull-through sites, restrooms, and showers. If you’re looking for fun, the campground also has a small animal farm, two swimming pools, Wi-Fi, cable TV, and horseshoes just to name a few. Lake Manchaug Camping and Indian Ranch Campground are a few other places to camp in an RV near Upton State Forest. Walk the dog in the quintessential New England-style Cushing Memorial Park. Or hike through 820 acres of Callahan State Park. Want to do some fishing in Framingham? Take the family to Farm Pond, where they can go fishing, kayaking, or have a picnic near the water. When it comes to experiencing the great outdoors, Framingham is a solid choice.

Planning on visiting a museum while you’re camping with an RV in Upton? A short drive north will land you in North Grafton, where you can check out the Willard House and Clock Museum. Check out the huge gallery of homemade clocks dating back to the 1700s. You can also see what the clock-making workshop would have looked like. The museum is always hosting an event of some sort throughout the year. Visit the gift shop on your way out and purchase memorabilia or books related to clock making.

There are no gas stations in the park itself; however, there are a few filling stations within a short drive. In Upton proper, you'll find a few restaurants to choose from, like pizzerias, Chinese restaurants, and American grills. When your trip has come to its end and you’re ready to hit the road, I-90 is the closest major interstate, and that will take you straight into Boston, the capital city of Massachusetts.
