The Great Outdoors
Just west of Mount Pleasant is the Deerfield Nature Park. Covering almost 591 acres, the park gives you access to eight miles of hiking and biking trails, fishing along the Chippewa River and a kayak/canoe launch area. In the winter, the trails are groomed for cross-country skiing, and there is a sledding hill. Lastly, two 18-hole disc golf courses plus volleyball and horseshoe courts are available, and there are picnic areas and covered pavilions.

Situated in Breckenridge, on the banks of the Pine River, is the River Ridge Family Campground. As the name suggests, this campground is perfect for families, with a heated swimming pool, a swimming beach on the river, spa and sports facilities. You can choose a site under the shade of the trees along the river’s edge, or they have sunny sites also available. From the 152 sites available, you can choose either full hook-up or just electric and water, plus all sites have fire pits and picnic tables. Exploring the City
Each April since 1958 the Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival has taken place in the village, and it has now evolved into a 3-day event. The aim of the event has always been to raise funds for community support, including a children's summer camp, building community parks and sports facilities. With music, parades, arts, and crafts, plus of course lots of pancakes and maple syrup it’s a great event for the whole family.
